Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome!
Whether you’re a long-time collaborator or we’re just meeting for the first time, I’m here to make your production process smooth and stress-free—delivering a final product you’re going to absolutely love.
Here are some of the things folks ask me most often.
I know production schedules can be tight! Projects are typically delivered within 24 hours, often the same day. For longer e-learning modules or specialized technical scripts, we can chat about a timeline that works for your team.
Yes, in fact, I have two! To ensure consistent quality and availability, I record from two professional, broadcast-quality locations. I have STUDIOBRICKS and WhisperRoom sound isolation booths equipped with industry-standard microphones like the Neumann TLM 102 and the Sennheiser MKH 416. This ensures every file I send over is clean, bright, and ready for your mix.
Yes! I love collaborating in real-time. My studio is fully equipped for directed sessions via Source-Connect (ID: shelleybaldiga), ipDTL, Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, phone patch, or your preferred online connection. This allows you to provide direction from anywhere in the world, ensuring we get the perfect take.
You bet. I offer custom auditions to ensure we’re the perfect match. Just send your script, usage details, and any direction or style reference to shelley@shelleybaldiga.com.(mailto:shelley@shelleybaldiga.com) I’ll get a sample back to you ASAP so we can get the ball rolling!
I typically deliver high-quality WAV files (48kHz / 24-bit) as the standard. I’m also happy to provide MP3s for smaller file sizes or quick sharing. If your project has specific technical requirements—like AIFF or a different sample rate—just let me know and I’ll make sure you get exactly what you need!
I’ll send you a secure download link via WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive.
Yes! My standard delivery is "Clean & Edited." This means I remove most breaths (unless they add to the performance), mouth clicks, or errors. The files are normalized to industry standards (usually -3dB) so they are ready to drop straight into your project timeline. If you prefer "Raw" audio for your own engineer to mix from scratch, just let me know!
I’m a bit of a stickler for organization. I usually follow a clear naming convention, such as ProjectName_ShelleyBaldiga_01. If your project has multiple files (such as an e-learning module or an app), I can follow your specific naming convention to ensure everything matches up perfectly on your end.
I want you to love the final result! I include one round of minor revisions (pace, tone, or emphasis) for free within 2 weeks of delivery. If there’s a script change after I’ve already recorded, or if we need a complete redirection, we can work out a fair pickup fee to get it exactly right.
My signature is really about warmth and clarity. I'm often described as the "smart and kind" or "authentically encouraging" voice. It’s professional and authoritative enough for a corporate project, but always with a layer of warmth. It’s very much a 'real person' vibe—natural, conversational, friendly, intelligent, trustworthy, and altogether approachable.
Clients are searching for the value of human emotion and nuance that AI cannot yet perfectly replicate. It still lacks the one thing your audience craves most: genuine emotional intelligence. A trained human voice actor doesn’t just read your words; they interpret the subtext, finding the specific "heart" of a script that resonates with a listener’s lived experience. AI can give you a polished recording, but a human voice actor gives you a performance that connects, reassures, and moves people in a way an algorithm simply isn't wired to do.
I have Eastern Cherokee and Catawba roots on my paternal side. While I am not an enrolled member of a tribe, this part of my background is deeply important to me. These roots give me a personal connection to narratives that honor Native American voices and traditions. I strive to bring respect and authenticity to every project that celebrates this heritage.
I do! In fact, medical narration and health benefits are a huge part of what I do. I’ve been the voice behind many of the country's largest hospital systems and insurance providers, helping them share important information with patients in a way that feels clear and supportive.
You might have run into me while searching for health answers on WebMD. I’ve voiced hours of content for them, specifically focused on making tricky, complex medical topics feel more approachable to everyday listeners. Whether it's high-level oncology data or a simple wellness or health benefits explainer, I’m totally comfortable with the technical terms and can make complex or heavy information feel approachable and safe.
The best way is to send a quick email to shelley@shelleybaldiga.com (mailto:shelley@shelleybaldiga.com)or use the contact form on my website.
To help me give you a precise number right away, please include these details:
1. The Category: Is it for a commercial, an e-learning course, a corporate explainer, or something else?
2. The Length: A word count is usually the most helpful, but an estimated time (e.g., "a 2-minute video") works too.
3. The Usage: Where will this live? (e.g., internal company use, a local radio spot, or a national social media campaign).
4. The Usage Length: If it's a paid, promoted or broadcast campaign, how long will it run?
I base my rates on industry standards (like the GVAA Rate Guide)(https://globalvoiceacademy.com/gvaa-rate-guide-2/) to ensure you get a fair and professional price.
